What is scrubbing?

Why should I be able to select a rectangular portion of a wave? Why can't I just select a range from one point in time to another? What is the purpose of being able to select of rectangular portion from the inside of a wave?

Scrubbing is available by holding the the "0" key down while moving the cursor - kind of scrubbs along the VIP. I assume the term comes from video. More parameters for this are in the "P" menue.

Selecting a rectangular portion of a wave, you can zoom to it, meaning having a very close look at those peaks! If you make the grid visible you can see the db scale get finer as you zoom...
