Haven't seen this one talked about yet...

Does anyone work with AVI (or other video) files in Samplitude? If so, how smoothly has it worked for you?

I have worked with a number of AVI files in various CODECs, but it never really runs as well as Adobe or the other dedicated video editing programs.

Simply put, I'd like to run 10-20 minute clips in Sampitude and use it as an ADR tool, or SFx editing station, for audio layback to video.

But it's been difficult to run smoothly, with more than a few glitches, etc. I usually import the AVI File, and "Extract" the audio from it, and then attempt various playback features (With and without the clips view, etc,) but there's always SOMETHING funny, and it often wont run in good sync with the picture. I sometimes have to go frame by frame to make sure I'm at the right "hit" points, and even then, I'm never sure I got it perfectly, untill I save it all, and open it under Premier or some other video program.

My P3-500MZ 256 RAM machine seems to run everything else (including video) just fine, so I'm wondering if it's more of a settings issue for me. (And the CODEC might be an issue, as well... I am using a CANOPUS Raptor DV capture card, which uses it's own proprietary CODEC.)

Anyone else attempting to do this sort of thing?
