View Full Version : About my last "whining" post...

OK, I admit I over-did the post. And maybe I should have - like midlandmorgan suggested in his reply - retype my message before I sent it. But it would probably have come out pretty much the same way, although maybe not as "whining" as someone put it. And, of course, I kind of regret that.

I am not very familiar with using news groups. And I too, thought that the users there are really sophisticated Samplitude users. In a way they are, in a way they aren't. To me it seems that all you have to do is "say good stuff" and accept everything - then you're welcome to participate. But, don't you dare criticize the software or the NG! I regret to say that I definitely don't work that way (and I know most of you don't work that way either).

Obviously, my "appearance" ruffled the feathers of a certain group of users over there. They just didn't like me, because I asked questions that only the owner of the server could answer/take care of. And the users got scared sh!tless about that; they don't want to "disturb" the owner since they think it would probably end up in something "no good" (probably that the "news.sekd.com" will be shut down or something like that, which is unlikely).

Lookit, when I was unsatisfied with how Emagic handled the Samplitude issue, I really bawled like a lunatic over a certain period of time. But it wasn't until now, when criticizing a Samplitude-related NG, that I was told to "grow up" (not that I needed to be told that http://www.audioforums.com/forums/wink.gif). What does that really mean? I can't tell someone within the "inner circle" that I don't agree with how things are handled internally?

If that's the case, I am truly sorry! Either way, I won't "turn the other cheek" when and if I get slapped.

As for my suggestion to grow up, it had NOTHING to do with criticizing the NG - I sure don't have overly sensitive feelings about it, and no reason or need to feel I need to "protect" it or the users from your "appearance" (whatever that means). My statement came purely from observing your posts, both here and at the NG over the last couple days. They were childish and rude - full of petty crap that sounded like a twelve year old rant over nothing - I'm just the guy sitting in the back of the restaurant watching the six year old in the booth up front rant and cause a scene - and I just couldn't help standing up and hollering at the kid to "Grow up!" Haven't you ever been at that place, MA? Sorry for my outburst

Even in this post, you start off in a humble and grown up manner, but end up in that place again though...

Your outburst was probably entitled.

I don't understand your "quote", though... Was it the "They just didn't like me"?

I *DID* get answers like that I shouldn't be so concerned about server matters, and all I got from that was that no one should bother the server owner. Maybe because they're too busy or something. I don't know...

About repeating how childish I am, won't help much. Because, being "childish" as a grown up (I am 30+, you know http://www.audioforums.com/forums/wink.gif) is often the same as not agreeing with the flow... I can buy that.

I am not very familiar with using news groups.

Then maybe you should take time to become familiar before you begin spouting criticizm.

And I too, thought that the users there are really sophisticated Samplitude users. In a way they are, in a way they aren't. To me it seems that all you have to do is "say good stuff" and accept everything - then you're welcome to participate. But, don't you dare criticize the software or the NG!

Read the posts by others. 90% are complaints or questions about the software. Most of the time due to not knowing how to work a feature in Samp. A question gets asked, answered and solved. As far as complaining about the NG itself, there really isn't anything to camplain about. No "major" issues anyway (parden the pun). http://www.audioforums.com/forums/smile.gif

I regret to say that I definitely don't work that way (and I know most of you don't work that way either).

Nobody at the NG is "going along to get along". There's no reason for that. Just be polite and professional. You don't walk into someones house for the first time and start complaining about there furniture do you?

Hey, quit making things up! Read the posts. You didn't scare the sh!t out of anyone. It sounds like you think your posts are much more important than they really are. What the people that replied actually said is that they appreciate the fact that a company like Sek'D (BTW, a company that doesn't have anything to do with Samplitude anymore) keeps the NG up and going. That's all.

Lookit, when I was unsatisfied with how Emagic handled the Samplitude issue, I really bawled like a lunatic over a certain period of time. Fact: You showed up at the Samp NG and started two posts (as far as I can tell). Only two! Neither dealt with Samp or a problem your having with it. Rather, both of them criticized the NG itself. However, both of your questions were aswered in detail. Like I said before, you just didn't like the answers. What do you think would happen if I showed up at this forum and the first thing I did was to start complaining about the forum itself? Think about it. I doubt the responce would be very freindly and rightly so. But the topper is after doing that I then go to another forum and start whinning and telling half truths .............. are you sure you're 30?

If that's the case, I am truly sorry! Either way, I won't "turn the other cheek" when and if I get slapped.

This sounds like something an 8 year old might say. An immature 8 year old.

"What do you think would happen if I showed up at this forum and the first thing I did was to start complaining about the forum itself?"

Well, why don't you give it a try? http://www.audioforums.com/forums/smile.gif

"Are you sure you're 30?"

Yes, I'm sure. How old are you, girl? http://www.audioforums.com/forums/smile.gif

I have a better idea...one that will clear the smoke...

Every time someone says something mean about another, or replies in a less than civil manner, the offending party will send to me the most expensive preamp or mic in their collection...now, to show my heart's in the right place...I'll even cover shipping!

How's THAT for settling things? I know, the sacrifices I must make....

Major,

I went back to the newsgroup and read over your post...

all of the replies you got were very friendly in nature except for the replies from one person, a Daniel something or other... you even got Volker to reply to your thread (something that doesn't happen very often)...

with all due respect, do you really think you should be judging the entire newsgroup from the ignorant replies of one person???

No! Not the *entire* newsgroup.
