View Full Version : Trackspeed does not turn on for 8+ tracks

Have any of you noticed the same?
I'm using Samp 6.04 and I use projects with 8-10 tracks of MIDI and 8-10 tracks of audio (in one VIP). I sometimes get dropouts in playback and record errors when recording.
Last week I noticed that Samp counts the number of tracks incorrectly, and fails to switch on TrackSpeed. When you go to the TrackSpeed settings, there is a small ">" sign showing the current number of tracks you have. This was at the wrong place for me. When I raised the memory setting for the "up to 8 tracks" band from zero, TrackSpeed turned on and record/playback errors gone. However, I had MORE than 8 tracks of audio playing.
I don't know if it matters. But I have the MIDI tracks at the top in the VIP, and the audio tracks below the MIDI tracks.
I work with a totally clean Win98. Samplitude is the only installed program. Every Win98 setting is optimized (IE was removed with IERadicator) as it is advised on Info Hub and other sites.

I don't know, but maybe Samp isn't counting the midi tracks. It's so little data, compared to audio. See if it kicks in at 8 audio tracks.

I found the solution to my own problem.
Samplitude counts only those tracks which have an audio object in them. So if you have 10 midi tracks and 8 audio tracks, Samplitude will use the "up to 8 tracks" setting for TrackSpeed. This seems logical, but my computer needed TrackSpeed even when audio tracks were under 8, because midi tracks imposed an additional load on my machine.
