Hello all I really had no idea where to place this..but here goes.

When I'm listening to a song. I usually write lyrics for it while it's playing (Wordpad). Now for some reason when I'm typing when the music that is playing the sound, clips then the music becomes distorted.

If I continue typing it becomes worse. When I stop typing the music is still distorted...restarting seems to be the only solution to get the sound back to normal.

The funny thing is this only happens with audio applications (insert your favorite app here...Cubase,Logic,Samp,Fruity,) not CD's or Windows Media Player.

The whole setup is fairly new (plenty of memory and cpu power)Any ideas of what could be causing this. It's really starting to chap my hide.

The temporary solution is making a rough mix exporting the tracks from whatever application, then listening to it as a wav or mp3. This totally interupts the creative process, totally.

A solution to this issue will guarantee you fortune and fame !!!

2 things come to mind here. Firstly, go into your Audio app, and make sure that "release ASIO drivers in Background" is checked.
Also, have you considered using a pen and paper???

thank you both for responding...
i don't think it's the ram, if so the problem would have appeared when the system was built from what I know.

I'll check to see if release ASIO drivers in background is checked (I think whatever the extra settings are for ASIO are checked) but from what I understand that shouldn't affect my typing or am I mistaken?

Pen and paper ?!....people still use those

I actually have pulled out another notebook from the vault of a thousand pages but it's so much easier to have everything already typed out for you when you're mailing lyrics off.

The only thing I can think of is system sound schemes. Check to see that they are turned off. It may be that a conflict is happening if you press a wrong key while you are typing and the system tries to sound a "ding" or something.
