Anyone know how I can set up my hard drives off the SATA connectors on my ASUS PG8Xdeluxe board?
I have 1 of my 2 drives running of the SATA connector, but the system wont run/boot if the bootable drive is not on the IDE connector.
I was sure there would be a way to hook the 2 HDD's up using the SATA and use the IDE for cdrom drive and DVD drive.
Thoughts are appreciated.

There is no setting in the BIOS that allows SATA boot?!
Can select form about 5 other options but SATA is not on the ASUS BIOS list. The SATA is an onboard raid controller but I don't want a raid setup, just want to run both HDD of it to free up IDE slots.

I used to use my raid controller to boot from, however Windows XP needed some critical system files to reside on the first disc (IDE).
The best way to do this is to boot from CD-Rom into Windows Xp and then you will have to have a floppy disk containing drivers for the onboard SATA controller so that Windows can recognise the drive and offer it to you as a partition to boot from in the setup menu.
Bear in mind that you have to have set up the SATA controller to accept the drive as a one drive only raid setup (should be in the Asus manual)
Then all should be set and Windows will find what it needs from the IDE drive first, then boot from SATA.
