I'm trying to make my laptop work with an USB edirol UA700 audio-midi device , I use cubase VST 5.1, the laptop is an HP ZT1150 with P4 ,256 etc etc the OS is XPpro+SP1.
Well
The compatibility of the devices is OK
BUT:
-the system is not stsbile; sometimes, while recording, audio or MIDI disappears .
Edirol assistance says it is better to set up the system disabiliting the ACPI but this creates even more troubles.
Last but not least I've get a 1394 external HD, a very heavy and professional ACOMdata 60Gb 7200 but it sucks,it places on the sound files orribles noises and if I try to edit or normalize an audio file it gets blocked and disappears from the "my computer" label.
Does anyone out there have experience on "how to built a perfect stabile laptop recording studio"?
