Just askin, I deleted aud.ini files in cakewalk homestudio program files, raised my buffer settings, run at 44.1 kz 16 bits.
M-audio delta, with a sb live/wdm drivers.
Ran a via chipset patch.
Like I said, just curious.

For mixdowns that's ok but for softsynths and live input of plugs it's not too good.I'm regularly at 2.9ms w/M-Audio and can go 1.5ms If I'm willing to take the CPU hit.Sounds like your having pops/clicks problems with a Via chipset.

Thats cool , again I was just askin.

I don't have the via kt133, this mobo runs vt8753 north and vt8233 south, I really never had a problem with cracks and pops, just config issues. I am getting 8.7 ms at a 512 sample rate on the card, I should run 128 I guess, figured more sample I have the better the quality (vocals).... I switched m-audio to 128 and sure enough 2.9 at 44 k, 2.7 at 48; (some sort of default ? the Aud.Ini file seems to call for 1 ms).

The soundblaster is flat at 10 ms.
Cakewalk still says 'soundblaster not .. configured for audio or somthing', I disable it but it always shows up on wave profile,
-that will be my next and last issue, as it works but I simply hate 'warnings' from the computers I build.
At any (sample) rate, I thank the folks here and I think maybe sonic needs a bit of thanks, as I understand this whole thing is his responsibility.
(perhaps sonic is stealing my ideas ???? Ack !, Sonic ! don't do it! If you see yourself using 'liquid gold' on that upright piano just before guest's show up .... you know your off the deep end.

all in good fun

how do you test your latency?

hi naked I was just lookin in cakewalk (home studio 2) 'latency' slider thingy.
it's somewhere in the audio settings.
Then again who knows when you add all the pluggins.....
I realize there are other tests out there, but I just a hacker at this stage.
