OK Crew,

With my last PC, I had the OS (Win98SE) optimized for digital audio production (multitracking, processing, etc.)

Now, I have a new machine; & am running Windows XP. I am assuming there is also a set of standard optimization settings to keep XP running lean on a PC, as well.

Can anyone here share any knowlege they may have as to this...or point me in the direction of some good resources on the topic.

Thanks in advance,

mark4man

BTW - I'm gonna' need performance & speed, 'cause I've decided to work in 24/96.

Here's one (http://www.musicxp.net).
Here's another (http://www.sospubs.co.uk/sos/mar02/articles/pcmusician0302.asp)

These are just two of many and deal mainly with the OS. I've found that as long as you have a newer computer that tweaking it only improves performance marginally at best, but does get rid of some annoyances. There are some fundamental tweaks that go beyond any particular OS (such as frequency of defragging, etc.) but you're probably aware of them already. If not I'm sure someone in this thread will pick up the slack and answer some specifics.
