hello all.
I have taken the time in my studio to keep the power separate from signal cables. and when they do need to cross...they cross at right angles.

I was noticing last night 2 things...

I am using an ART DI/O tube preamp w/ S/PDIF out for my front end. First... I noticed that I have the S/PDIF cable tied up w/ some power cable. Being digital cable, is this any cause for concern? Does digital cable pick up hum and interference?

Secondly. I have my ART preamp in the rack space directly underneath my ETA power conditioner/ distribution. Is this a bad idea? should I not have the power conditioner so close to where my source signal is coming from???

I know these are just minor things....but hey...? http://www.audioforums.com/forums/smile.gif

thanks for any insight.
cheers.

Are you having hum problems? If so, move cables, if not, leave'em.

I am not having any hum problems at the moment; however, I still would like some knowledge on the subject concerning a power conditioners location to a mic pre/cable. And also about picking up hum through digital cable?

Can anyone clear up these topics for me?

Thanks for any insight.
cheers

digital cables don't pick up hum. Nevertheless, if the interference is very strong it can damage your digital signals. That leads to "unexplainable" errors, drop outs and so on. But in fact digital cables are much more insensitiv then analog ones.
