does anyone know the way to partition a harddrive for OS allocation? I understand it must be done in DOS before installing the software. I have two 7200 IDE drives fitted. The apps. drive is 40GB and the data drive is 80GB on a GIGABYTE P4.
Please help????

It can be done in DOS using FDisk, but if you're running XP pro, you can do it on the fly using the disk management snap-in.

Or - do yourself a big favor and buy Partition Magic and Drive Image from Power Quest - they both have been of tremendous use to me.

I'll second that. No PC should be without them!! Both can be purchased for reasonable prices off eBay (that's where I got mine)

Cheers,
I ended up doing it on FDISK but a strange thing happened with my data drive.FDISK only recognised 10GB of an 80GB HD??I partitioned 10GB for the OS and it still recognised the spare 30GB on the primary drive, but only 10 on the slave drive. Is there a critical problem or can I read it all in XP?
