View Full Version : Sonar and Inca 88, can anyone compare latency settings?

Anyone else have an Inca 88 with Sonar? I'd like to compare settings and usable latency results. I'm away from the PC for a few days after this, though.

I use the INCA88, but due to an error when installing I'm still using drivers version 3.20 (need to format my harddrive). Anywho, the Sonar latency is set to 3.3 ms, using 48 samples (in the INCA control panel), and it works beautifully! I'd like to dig up some more, but I'm at work and don't remember the settings right now...

Hi Moskus,
Thanks for the reply. I'm getting 2.7 ms latency at 128 samples, and that's with the "slider" all the way to the left. (Yes?) I'm running a 1ghz Celeron and 512 RAM with WIN XP. The 3.6 drivers don't seem to achieve a lot I care about- they provide a virtual "patch panel" that allows you to copy files from one program to another. I don't know if the actual drivers themselves have been improved.
My next exercise will be loading up Sonar with around 20 audio files, effecting most, and seeing if that 2.7 latency still works (that's my normal type of project).
Have you put your system under that sort of load?
What utterly confuses me is Cool Edit Pro and now maybe Sonar appears to work backwards to Cubase in regards to the sample settings in Inca 88. Large settings like 2048 let Cubase work smoothly allbeit with long latency. CEP works better with 48 samples.
Go figure!

Cheers, Graeme.
