Sonar 1 not recognising Soundblaster live as stereo!

Can anybody help with my problem?
I have Sonar 1, windows 2000 and a soundblaster live 5.1 card.
My problem is that sonar will not recognise the card as stereo, it thinks it is mono.
I have downloaded and installed the latest wdm drivers for the card from the creative web site. I have uninstalled and re-installed the drivers to no avail. From what I've read on this forum, not many people like this audio card, however I am just starting to learn how to record and have limited funds so I will have to make do with what I have at present. I would really appreciate if anybody can help me to overcome this, or let me know if it cant be overcome.

Using the latest drivers from Creative is probably you problem. They are CRAP and have all kinds of problems. You should use the driver on the installation CD that came with your card. Sounds like you need to install the Sonar update as well - the last version before 2 came out was 1.3. I believe the update is still available for download on their site.
