View Full Version : Midi too fast (earlyency?) SONAR2

Hi,

Short story:
When I record a MIDI track and play it back it plays back too early. If I record quarter notes along with the metronome they shift aprox 40 ticks before the beat.

Long story:
I have a P4 on a Pentium board with a gig of memory and a current scsi drive. I am running XP home, and using a Tascam US-224 for MIDI and audio. I was having a rough time getting digital audio to work in Sonar2. I did every tweak on the net until Tascam told me of the microsoft bug fix for the audio problem. Audio's working. Now my MIDI records a bunch of ticks ahead of the beat. I uninstalled SONAR and erased all INI files (to be safe I also removed Pro9, but it was working fine at that time) And reinsalled SONAR2. Please help.

Have you checked under Project Options that the source is set to 'audio'?

If you have installed new drivers for the sound card you should re-run the Wave Profiler.

If you still cannot get midi and audio to synch, you might have to adjust the DMA buffer sizes in Driver Profiles 'by hand' and there was an old article suggesting a method for doing this on the Cakewalk website support section.
