View Full Version : Sonar compatibility with TC Powercore/UAD-1 cards

Hello Sonar users... maybe someone can help me out on this one. I've submit a question to Sonar's support site about compatibility of SonarXL(1.3.1) with TC Power/UAD-1 cards, and they had no idea... told me to post to a user forums and ask users to see if they had tried this and to see if they were successful at it. Well, that kind of answered my question, but I'll just ask you the same thing: has anyone tried this combo?

Many thanks,
AF

Yes, I've tried them both. You have to use a VST->DirX wrapper. The lack of plug -in delay compensation makes using them a drag on tracks that are timing sensative(most are). The tracks will lag significantly behind other tracks.

If you want to use these cards, you get much better results with a VST application that compensates for plug-in latency in each track so that you won't have to worry about it - something like Nuendo for example.

These cards are great and offer some excellent processing. It would be really useful to hear how Cakewalk plans to support them in the future.

Thank you Steve,

That kind of bites... I really like sonar, and those two cards look like exactly what I need. I guess I just have to hurry-up and wait on Sonar guys and see if they can get these two cards compatible with Sonar. It just seems like could be a pretty good combo.
Really hate to take the outboard gear route, which is more expensive... Agree with you on this too, it'll be nice to know from Sonar guys if they are at least thinking about implementing these cards...

I use a UAD-1 in Sonar, You have to create your own delay compensation, There is a sample delay plugin that is in UAD-1 but for some reason it doesn't work right in Sonar (1.03 or 2.0)I use AnalogX"s sample slide, it works perfect. Midi tracks are another matter I mark those tracks then slide them by frames which works but is not perfect. The card is fantastic though. Maybe someone on the forum-Allen? has some input on a midi workaround Bob

Just to be clear...

DirectX does inherently support delay-compensation. The problem is that Universal Audio hasn't written in DirectX for the UAD1 yet.

Thanks screams , I wondered why Sonar didn't have plugin compensation,- learn something new every day. Bob

Alan, I hope that Sonar gets this "delay compensation" for VST, as I think it could be a pretty cool combo.
