View Full Version : Sonar 1.31 track 'slipping' with close zoom.

I need some very quick help with this.

I am trying to align that phase of some stereo mic'ed stuff in Sonar. When I zoom in close enough to get a good look at the cycles of the wave form then try to move one track or another just a slight bit, the track moves a LOT. I have exhausted ALL 'snap to grid' functions and have even just turned off snap to grid. I can zoom out farther from the wave, but then I cannot see exactly how far to move it. Sometimes it seems that if I split the clip up to shorter pieces that I can then move it by smaller amounts, but I would just like to move the whole clip a manner of a sample or two or three.

Anyone have this same problem and found a work around? Something I am missing in a preference setting? Need some quick help with this as I am doing a LOT of tracks for a project.

Thanks

You need to right click on the timeline bar and choose 'snap properties' then click in the top window where it probably says Whole Measure and just put the number 1, then click OK and your set to go. This will allow you to move in very small increments instead of entire measures. This will be even better than the 32 triplet option.

Good luck.

Keeps slipping the whole clip to the VERY beginning of the song and then won't let me slip it back...

Well, let me get home to my DAW and look up the exact thing you need to do. But it has to do with the snap proerties of the timeline. I'll post in an hour or so what I do to relieve this issue.

Thanks for you attempt at help Mr.Sultan. I haven't found any reason why the file moves several measures when I try to move it in the timeline with a very close zoom. But I DID find a solution.

I just "split" the clip somewhat close to the beginning. Then when I want to move a whole track forwards or backwards in the time line (like for aligning phase on overhead mics, or the phase of the snare mic(s) with the overheads, I can right click on the clip, go to "Clip Properties", and adjust either the "Snap Offset", or the "Clip Start Time". Only played with it a bit, but it seems that the Snap Offset allows a finer degree of movement then the Clip Start Time.

Anyway. Found what I was looking for. Thanks for the help all the same.

Not feeling so much like a.........

Solution!!!

Hold Alt+Shift then click on the clip and drag it.

Sure wish I had read that before I did ALL the edits for 20 tracks for 7 songs!!! http://www.audioforums.com/forums/frown.gif
