can't offer a suggestion on the metering discrepancy, but .....

the crackling can be fixed by adjusting your latency settings to a "safer" setting - ie move the slider to the right.

( i had EXACTLY the same problem when i first installed SONAR 2.0 - including regular dropouts - but changing latency settings has resulted in ZERO droputs and crackling http://www.audioforums.com/forums/smile.gif )

I suggest having a read about "latency" and "buffers" in the help file. it will give you all the info you need.

In the audio options menu: set playback queque to 2 then move the slider to the right until everything goes smoothly. These settings depends on the audiocard and drivers you have.

i think the reason the task manager says 100% is that Sonar "hogs" the cpu for itself, and then reports on the percentage it (Sonar) has available. If you start another application, Sonar will relinquish some of that, but you may see it's own meter jump up as a result. Notice that if you stop Sonar's audio engine, the task manager will drop to a normal level. If I have Sonar open, and want to work on something else, I always stop the audio engine 1st.

Thanx for the input but so far none of the suggestions have worked i have never experienced so many hassles every app i have ever tried worked rite away

because of some other problem i am forced to not use the wdm drivers which makes the latency unbearable anyway a solution may come up

cheers
