Hi,

I've built a few DAWs for my friends using the ECS K7S5A and at first all was great but now two are starting up with the bios setting missing and etc, I replaCED the batteries and the problem was still there. I just started to build a new system and the same thing is happening from the first time I applied power tp the board. Apparently this is a common problem with some K7S5A boards and I am trying to find to correct solutions. I found sites that claimed if I soldered a resistor on the may board the problem would go away, another said the remove the chip set heatsink and reapply it with a thermal pad.

Don't use super cheap motherboards! The Asus A7S333 is only $10 more and has Asus quality. That ECS board likes a good quality PSU as well as a well cooled CPU and case. Sparkle/Powerman PSUs seem to work well with the K7S5A. Try updating the BIOS although I doubt it'd help.
