Will the L2 ever be available in direct X format- or possibly even VST?

It's not even available for TDM systems that aren't Mix systems. I wouldn't hold my breath. The amount of CPU power needed to run it would just be more than would be available.

But that might depend on a DSP card--- if the myth is more than legend...

Apparently the card is not going to happen... If the L2 did become available by some chance for Direct X or VST, I wouldn't mind if it took 90% of my processing power- and computers are getting so powerful lately... I would probably plan to use it only for Mastering. I could apply the L2 by itself to a file already prepared with all of the other processing done ahead of time. That would be good enough for me.

Why not go with the L1? The specs are nearly the same. And it's available for every host application that matters already.
Just wondering.

Actually, that is what I'm planning on doing for the time being. The specs, as you say are nearly the same. Yes, the L1 is quite nice...- but not quite as nice as the L2. I would prefer the L2.

Toader,
I have to agree with this. Although I have not used the L2 ProTools plugin I have used the L2 hardware (which uses the exact same algorithms according to Waves). In a blind test, on the same material, I must say I much preferred the sound of the hardware unit to my L1 plugin (in Logic Audio and Motu). Not that the L1 isn’t good – it is - just that the L2 sounds better to my ears.
Therefore I would love to see the L2 plug in available for the native formats.
Best wishes,
Ian
