My question is why Waves doesn't make VST plugins for the PC platform and how they might be persuaded to do so.

Also, the same quality as the TDM plugs would be wonderful. http://www.audioforums.com/forums/smile.gif

Waves would really make a TON of money by releasing VST plugs with TDM quality. The demand for TDM quality plugs with in VST format has got to be massive. If these rumors of a new Waves DSP card are true, maybe this will all be a reality soon enough.

I don't understand this. How would a Waves DSP card integrate with for instance Cubase?
Would the VST plugins have all their computing done by the card while the rest of the program is handled by the DAW? What about instrument plug-ins? I'm just curious what you all think.

I'm not sure exactly how these cards work, but I do know that the plugins are processed with the card... depending on the card and complexity of the plugin, you might be able to run ten times as many plugs as you can run without a card, and depending on your system. As far as the format goes...I'm not really sure. I THINK that most DSP cards are designed to work with a specific format... heck, Waves might even create a new proprietary format compatible with only their card, and release a plug package designed to that end. A DSP card designed for VST, AND Direct X format plugs would be incredible! It would be the greatest selling DSP card ever! Imagine the possibilities..... http://www.audioforums.com/forums/smile.gif

Who knows what this card is going to be capable of. I guess all we can do is wait and see. I wish they would hurry though. I'm pretty excited to see what it can do... or, if it is actually more than a myth at that... seeing as I haven't heard any OFFICIAL announcements coming from Waves- just references in the Forums- how they were looking for hardware beta testers to use Nuendo extensively...
