For all you non-computer guys (like me) out there, here's something that happened to me this weekend when I was trying to record: the record and playback in Adobe Audition would start and stop, making a sound like a CD with a bad scratch in it. I finally sent the talent home, and ultimately discovered that the software that came with my new UPS was hogging the RAM: I uninstalled the software and all is good again. Hopefully this will help someone in the same situation.
