Any good alternatives to CoolEdit

Hi

Please can anyone suggest an alternative to CoolEdit. I think CoolEdit is good, but cannot afford it (the new version taken over by adobe). I have these other options to check out (below). I would to be able to do similar things as CoolEdit can, like convert from PCM to WAV and vice versa, look at frequency response, sample rate conversion are the main requirements.


Cubasis VST 4.0 (including WaveLab Lite 2.5)
Nero 6 (includes Nero Wave Editor 2)
Wavelab Essential
SoundForge Studio 6
Audacity


Any suggestions please

Depends if you want to multi-track. If not, Sound Forge. If you do, it's a whole bigger question!
