cool edit pro 2 and motu 24i/o

can anyone give me some help. i recently got a motu 24i/o and i know its cool edit compatible. my question is i'm trying to record multiple channels at once. say micing drums and six lines are hooked to the motu. it travels through firewire to the computer but i don't know how to assign each channel to its own individual track on cool edit. help please.

In the multitrack view each track has a soundcard input selector! Also I believe the options window will let you set a default for which inputs goto which tracks!
