I just upgraded my system to Windows 2000 from 98. i reinstall Cool Edit Pro 1.2, but when i try to open the program from my desktop, it freezes and tells me my system isnt set up to run the program and i need to reinstall. Or i just get and error that tells me to insert the cd rom in to run the program.
I do notice that on my copy of the disc, it says From Windows 95/98/NT, but not 2000. I went to the sytrillium website and downloaded the 1.2 upgrade, installed it, and still get the same errors. Any one know whats up?

Maybe your system is configured so that a
single mouse click brings up the program.
In that case, double-clicking will try to
bring up two programs at the same time which
will cause the problems you mention.

I have the same problem. When I open Cool Edit Pro 1.2a a dialog box says : "Your system hasn't been configured correctly." and says I need to reinstall although I was able to work fine with it before!
Reinstalling it doesn't help.
Anyone ?

try doing a complete install of your entire system. that might solve your problem.

I occasionally have the same message crop up. I never know when it might appear. When it does, I have to reinstall CEP (I'm running 1.2), which wipes out all my personally created presets.
Fortunately it hasn't happened for a while (Knock, knock!)

Hi,
I got the same problem last week end after a crash. Doing a uninstall/reinstall was working but not after applying the 1.2a patch.
I finnally found that I had a corrupted cool.ini file! just go in c:\Documents and Settings\"your login name"\Application Data\Syntrillium\Cool Edit\
and try to delete cool.ini or everything here. That might work for you. Good luck.

I've recently built a brand new machine (P4/i850/rambus) with a fresh install of W2K Pro, original Gina audio interface, the last "beta" WDM drivers from Echo and CEP 1.2a and sometimes at startup time it also complaing that I have to run SETUP again :-(.
This machine was built, starting with a clean and empty hard disc to eliminate problems with "upgrades" stomping on one another's DLLs, and we're seeing this same problem.
Anybody running CEP on Win XP Pro and having any better luck? We chose W2K for this machine because of the problems with EZ CD Creator and XP, but have since purchased Nero 5.5 as the CD writer and could ditch EZ CD Crater, reformat the disk and do a clean install of XP Pro.
Well, I run CEP on my Laptop an Win2000 without any problems! Absoluty fine! http://www.audioforums.com/forums/smile.gif
