View Full Version : COME ON!!!
Is version 2 EVER going to be released? Seems to me that its taken so long, it's quite likely that there isn't going to be one.
I mean, are Syntrillium living in the real world?!? Since the last release of CEP, Sonic Foundry have produced Vegas from scratch and are on the verge of releasing version 3.
Anyone got any actual clues about this? And no, I don't need 'beetlefan' et al coming up with a load of pathetic reasons why CEP's great and if I don't like it I should go elsewhere, etc, etc.
Thanks
Ben

Nobody has any idea...
With nods to Synt for a great product... a lot of us have moved on to other platforms. I use Vegas and Sound Forge almost exclusively... occasionally there is a built in CE effect I like or it has a shorter way of doing someting, but I use it less and less. It with either die out or they will have to come up with something great that is ahead of other product lines (or no one will want to take the time to re-learn a new product that doesn't offer anything "better"). They have chosen an interesting marketing strategy, time will tell if it worked or not.

And all were/are buggy and SF had to keep issuing bug fixes. Synt does not believe in numerous update versions.

Well, you can, you know...
Nothing's stopping you.

Hehehe. I was waiting for the that beetle - way too predictable.

Yeah, I've noticed. They believe in spending two or three years to write one piece of software. Jesus. And they make money, er, how?
resistor - I think that's going from extreme to another, don't you? Having to release updates every two weeks is ridiculous - but there really is no reason for taking years to write a piece of software. Unless, of course, if it isn't being written at all.

While waiting for 2.0 I also switched to Vegas but still used CE for editing but in the last month I switched to Samplitude Studio 6 for everything after trying their free 90 day fully working demo and finally I'm happy. I had no idea what I was missing. Awesome, awesome program.

Ben, my man, have patience. Some other software companies, Blizzard for example, have enough invested from their past successes to take the time necessary for an effective new product.
Go about halfway down this thread and read Bob Ellison's post:

Syntrillium's a small company, so they're rather squared into their methods--peculiar as may be. But they've seemed to work in the past; and being small, the company is also incredibly responsive to calls for help and advice.

Ben,
you completely misunderstood my rant on the Samplitude post...
they don't release updates every 2 weeks...
what I was saying was that I was told by the developers that the next update would be released in 2 weeks but 4 weeks had passed and it was delayed another 2 weeks... I was saying I would rather when updates are coming up, Magix tell us it will be released in about 3 months if they are thinking 2 weeks... that way it leaves room for unexpected delays and doesn't get us users hopes up...
I wasn't saying at all that updates should be released every 2 weeks... thats ridiculous...
