Is there a way to have a trk armed for record so that you can hear the monitor and see the record levels while the rest of the tracks are playing back. I can only set the levels for the track to be recorded with cool edit pro stopped...plus I cant rehearse to the already recorded other trks without actually recording the trk...you know..like an analog tape recorder..you could arm the trk and the red lite would blink you could put the thing in play and it wouldnt record untill you hit the trk button again but you could hear (monitor) the source for that trk!

Hmmm... If I record enable a track by pushing the little red button and start playing on my bass so the sound come's in through the line in I can hear this and I can see the meters. I'm not sure as to why you can't monitor. Maybe it has something to do with your soundcard settings. I doubt if this has anything to do with CEP.

This is a problem i have with my digigram vx pocket on my laptop, it wont allow me to moniter without recording - normaly F10 allows you to moniter, but with my soundcard it wont, but i figured out a work around:

Record or create a tiny bit of wave in the track you want to record on.

Then move this wave file ( a 5 second burst should do but it doesnt make much difference) to past the end of where you will be recording to.

Then when you press record voila! you can here what you are playing, but it doesnt actually record!

When you are ready to record just move the little wave off that track and it will record as normal..

Ok so it's a bit of a pain, but it saves having to keep destroying unwanted waves all the time you are rehearsing a part...

hope this helps you, good luck!

to CP thanx I'll give it a try
to Hanz..yes I can do that but when you hit the play button that track starts to record..I want to rehearse to the other tracks without recording the only way I could do this and hear my bass is to let it record then scrap out the track..plus when I rehearse I like to have it play looped but the track I have armed keeps recording merrilly on.
