I'm currently using Focusrite Penta as my front-end. I would like to buy another preamp that will SOUND better than my Penta but still below $1000. Any recommendations? I need those digital outputs. thanks.

no.. mono is ok, as long as it has digital output. should i check half-racks from s.projects, m-audio, FNR? tq

I'm not sure if they have digital outs or not, but I have had many people tell me that they really like Joemeek Mic Pre's. Just something you might want to look into.
