Hello everybody,

I was looking for a good mic for sound effects/foley, speech, acoustic instruments and vocals. It'll be going into a Digi 002 and recording on hard disk. I'm assuming most multi-pattern studio condensers include the patterns I need; omni, cardiod and figure-8. Since the budget isn't big enough to also get a small diaphgram condenser for location use what do you think I can also take on location without having to treat it like a fragile diamond? Thank you for any suggestions or thoughts you can give.

Your good buddy,

Velins

Well, it's not multi pattern but it's the best sounding condenser under $500....the BLUE baby bottle. The problem with spending that little for a dual backplate design, you are going to run into trouble with quality since it's almost impossible IMO to make a create a high quality condenser at that low of a price point. But that's just my $.02, and your mileage may vary there.
