Hi,

I need to pass some cables through a wall from my basement family room (AKA: console room) to a smaller room (AKA: isolation booth). The rooms are separated by a simple standard wall made of drywall (sheet-rock), no concrete or anything like that. All I'm looking for is some kind of electrical conduit (PVC?) with about a 3-inch (~7.6cm) diameter; about 6 inches long (at the most), with some kind of nice flip-down or sliding cover (so there isn't always a gaping hole visible through the wall). The cover does *not* have to be completely sound-proof, but if this is an option, I'd be willing to consider it.

If anyone knows where I could find something that would work, please let me know.

TIA!

In my part of the world I would go to a Home Depot or a Lowes Home Supply, the electrical department. Conduit of that size is usually associated with the "service entrance" where power comes from the meter to the circuit breaker. They make some nice elbows that have a small plate at the corner held in place by a couple of screws. (Allows the electrician get those monster stiff cables through the turn. Put the 6" section through the wall with an elbow on each side with a tailpiece of conduit pointed down. Take the covers off to fish cables in and out. Stuff a bunch of insulation in the elbow before putting the cover plate back in place. Paint to match your decor if you like.

Hardware stores, electrical supply houses will have these items.

VK,

Thanks for the info, but I was able to find what I was looking for at a local "OfficeMax" store. What I found was a 3 1/8 inch "grommet." It is a circular piece used to run cables through desktops, has an adjustable rotating cover, and comes in 2" inch, 2 3/8 inch, and 3 1/8 inch sizes. They are about an inch deep, so I'll probably just connect 2 of them using duct tape or aluminum tape. I picked up 2 of the 3 1/8 inch models at $4.99 (US) each.

Thanks for your help anyways!
