i need a bigger hard disc beacause my 20 giga is too small.
i want to buy the 80 giga western digital ata100/133 with8mb cache
but i dont know if it will work on my computer ,
in a case it would work but not in full powrer
i'll buy it anyway because it would work on full power in my new computer when i'll buy it.

if your ide interface on your motherboard is at least ata 100 compatible the drive will be very fast. In fact even at dma 66 it should still rocket, but not at full power. I have no experience will ata 133 so i cannot say how big the difference really is gonna be. I run one ata 100 drive with 2mb cache and it's really fast and i get loads of tracks from it so i am sure you don't have much to worry about!

come back to me with the ata speed of your motherboards IDE channels and maybe something better can be suggested.

You can always buy an ATA 133 PCI card hosting 2 more IDE channels to give you full speed. It's not that expensive.
