Hi all. I have a PIII computer, and am looking to upgrade to a p4 2.0. I have scsi hard drives, so all i really want to upgrade is my cpu and motherboard. Is it safe to say that I can just swicth the new mother board with the old and be done? Or are there other things I need to take in to consideration?

Does anyone have any suggestions on a P4/MOBO combo that will give me at least PCI slots with an AGP? I am not looking to spend much more than 400 bucks. Thanks.

Oh, and please no suggestions concerning AMD or other branded processors...I am happy with intel and have no interest in dealing with anything else at the moment. Thanks

Motheboard....Intel D845PESVL.......102$
CPU...........Pentium4B@2.4GHz......164$
RAM...........Corsair PC2700 512m...122$

Total.(less shipping)...............388$ www.newegg.com (http://www.newegg.com) prices quoted.

More cpu then you were looking for but its worth the extra money. The motherboard lacks some of the features that the typical enthusiast board offer but it makes up for that with stability.
Why pay for features like IDE raid if you don't need them. http://www.audioforums.com/forums/smile.gif
After upgrading the hardware plan on reloading the OS. Windows never plays nice after major hardware changes.
