if you are the one who can't play keyboard well..
what kind of hardware you want to buy...
to spend money on Keyboard Workstation like Korg Triton pro
or just buy a Top Synths or Samplers and midi controller so you can usethe sound in Midi software like cubase or Sonar

well...that totaly depends on what you want to use the synth for...you can use cubase to draw notes if youn can't play, but the most important thing are the sounds that you want. So buy a synth with sounds for your kind of music...
