Does anybody know how I can connect an ESI2000 sampler to my P.C? If I put an SCSI board in my computer will this allow me to transfer samples etc in between the computer and the sampler. The boy in Turnkey shop in London said I would need a Zip drive. This souns like crap to me. If you aren't familiar with turnkey, they are the biggest bunch off bullsh*tting boxshifters on the planet, and they will say anything to make a bit extra on the sale. Any help would be appreciated.

hey chipfat,
Turnkey is right and wrong, it depends.
a SCSI card in your PC will enable you to transfer "SAMPLES" to/from your ESI (they're wrong!) but not "PRESETS" or more importantly "BANKS".
why is that? because i think (somebody prove me wrong ;-) the ESI needs to format the drive to its own format.
as for Samples, lots of PC programs can read/transfer Emu formatted Samples.
surely a zip drive (they're right!) or some sort of ext.CDRW (SCSI of course) is a must when you want to save your Banks of Presets you created.
my advice: get a SCSI card AND a zip, and a program called ESI-Win (free) http://www.simplydata.co.uk/ESi-Win/
and have a read on this link: http://www.engr.orst.edu/~westonde/esi/
hope that has clarified a few things for you.
good luck,
Fabrice
