I have been building a computer for mate over the last few nights and its turned into a pain in the butt. Couldn't get the thing to boot, but through process of elimination The main issue is the cheap Korean made RAM that this shop keeps selling him(I have sent him back twice swearing its defective). They and he swear that when they put it in their instore test computer that the RAM works fine. when I put it in this mobo (GA7IXE) nothing happens. Have successfully got the comp to boot with kingmax ram from my computer-works beautifully. Does anyone know if this is a common thing that happens with cheaper grade memory??? The things I do for a bottle of Rum-sheesh.

Hehe... very common. You nailed it. MOBO's differ as to how finicky they are about cheap RAM. Also the RAM timing settings in BIOS (such as the CAS latency) could effect weather the cheap RAM would work. It may have worked for you if the timings were set really sl-o-o-o-o-w. It most likely just would never work right with that MOBO & would likely cause crashes & errors intermittently if you ever did get it working. That's why you should never skimp on a critical component like RAM. Idiots... testing it on their MOBO to prove it works... Tell your buddy to take the RAM back & get his money back & buy some good RAM (Crucial, Mushkin, Corsair & Kingston)... Oh yeah & pass that bottle this way would ya!?
