I would like to know wich is better. I am torn between having more expansion slots and the ability to get the cheaper and popular JV expansion boards along with the SRX boards (XV 3080). Or having the latest module with the select Fantom sounds but only having 2 SRX expansion and 64 Voice vs. 128 voice polyphony.

Please help. Most of my music is Hip-Hop, R&B, and POP. I have an EMU Mo Phatt Module (it sucks but may compliment another piece), I have access to my friends Triton Rack (I love it but can't afford it). And i want something that I can have that won't leave me so dependent on my friend but will be a good tool that both of us can us and will be a piece that I can grow with.

Both cost $795.

Hold out for the XV5080. This machine beats both other units. 8 expansion slots, 8 outputs as standard, 8 digital outs on Rolands R-bus interface which will plug into any Roland mixer, the ability to play back samples (you have to drop Ram cards in but they are quite cheap)
Prices are dropping all the time.

The two tracks you'll find at the above address use the XV5080 for most pad sounds. All horns and some of the drums on Kingsize come out of it as well. (XV5080's drums are excellent and there is a good drum expansion card)

I love mine!
