I'm looking to purchase a midi controller keyboard and was hoping someone could give some advice on one. I intend to use it with my p4-1.6, 256ddr sdram, 7200rpm drive, SB audigy, with Sonar using soundfonts and softsynths.

I did a little research and narrowed it down to three.

Evolution MK-249C: 49-key, usb/midi connection, 12 assignable knobs, non-volitile memory. Best price $189.99

Miditech Midicontrol: 49-key, usb/midi, 12 assignable knobs. Best price $199.99

Midiman Keystation 49: 49-key, usb/midi. Best price $149.99

I looked at the Midiman Oxygen 8, but it has only 25-keys. I also found some negative reviews of the miditech & midiman keyboards claiming shoddy workmanship and cheap feeling. (well, I suppose they are cheap sub-$200 keyboards) So I'm leaning towards the Evolution but can't find ANY reviews of it. Any suggestions, ideas, opinions?

(sorry if I posted this in the wrong place. I'm a newbie)

I think you should go with the evlolution mk-249, its nice to have 12 assignable knobs. I have a MK 61 and it only has one data controller which isnt much.

Thanks. I ordered the MK-249c the other day. UPS should be at my door any time.

I did finally find a user review of it over at harmony-central.com and I contacted the author of it. Getting a thumbs up from someone who has used it for the last six months sold me.
