View Full Version : Problem connecting MIDI keyboard to soundcard

I just got a Fatar SL880 MIDI keyboard controller. For now my concern is piano practice, I simply want to plug the keyboard into my PC and play. The Fatar is a MIDI controller only, no sound modules.

And now the problem: no sounds. The connections seem fine, power's on, my Soundblaster AWE64 Gold makes other sounds, the "virtual keyboard" on the AWE64G MIDi Synth [620] (AWE Control) app works.

Any ideas?

(I've submitted a support request to Creative but I don't expect a reply for a couple of days, at least)

Thanks,

Bruce

First of all, you have to be running some kind of program that will direct the data from the SB MIDI input port to the onboard synth on the SB.

You should have the Virtual Keyboard program running and have it look at your MIDI IN port for the input. It will allow you to select different sounds as well.

Also, did you check to make sure you have the MIDI out on the Fatar connected to the MIDI in on the SB? It might be connected to the SB MIDI out.
