digi001 is cool if you want to use protools software. I would consider something as simple as a Delta 10/10 with an inexpensive mic pre. Best of luck

Go with the Q10. It has the best preamps and 8 of them. The Digi001 only has 2. The new drivers for the Q10 are solid, the new driver just came out in Dec. So all the problems are gone. The delta don't even come close to the Q10. There were some problem in the past with the drivers but they were fixed check out there site and the reviews. Ask people how is working with the new driver forget the search that was in the past. www.aardvarkauido.com (http://www.aardvarkauido.com)

If you plan on running a pair of active monitors directly off your interface, you may be well advised to look at an interface with a hardware volume control on it. Two that spring to mind are the aforementioned Digi001, and the MOTU 828. Incidentally, both these units also have headphone sockets. Devices like the Delta 1010 and Q10 are better suited to running out into a conventional mixing desk - if it's really true about the new Q10 drivers being solid, I have heard that it's audio quality is fantastic, although there WERE a lot of driver issues in the past. The Delta 1010 sounds great (haven't had a chance to compare againast the Q10), and it's had a solid driver history.

BTW, at the risk of sounding anal - it becomes rather tiresome when people post their queries to the wrong forum. This is a PS OS and Hardware forum. This question clearly belongs in the soundcard forum.

THE q10 does not need to run an external mixer btw.INFACT it was built for an all in one unit pe se.IT does have a monitor and headphone volume control on the interface, and does have a seperate monitor outs dedicated for the monitors.same goes with the digi 001 which i own.and had the q10 but returned it some 6 months ago or so
because of the drivers.but they say now its
great and fixed with the drivers.so they say.

As far as your question, which to go with?i can give my opinion.if the drivers are realy fixed i would say q10.if not?the digi001 only for their hardware and not the software imo and my opinion is firm.digi001 will have completed asio by next month march.its a great hardware very flexible and good converters very ecceptable.but the software imo forget about it at least if you are gone be using pc platform.i use the dihi001 with samplitude very harmonious together, now that the beta asio is out too, which will be complete in march.
i am waiting for the dsp mport 3000.dont know what thats gone be like comparing to those units.remains to be seen.
