I've noticed with some guitars and basses when plugged into a direct box I get a noise/buzz and when you turn the instrument back and forth it goes away or gets louder. It's usually with active electronics. Some instruments will do it and some don't do it. I was wondering if I could add a switched capacitor or ? to a direct box to eliminate this problem when it comes up on different instruments or what realistic solution is there? Thanks for any help.

Sorry no one responded sooner - I'm new here, but if you haven't already taken care of your problem then probably the best and definately the cheapest solution would be a noise gate. At least that would get rid of the RF while your not playing. It shouldn't really be a problem while your playing, since you shouldn't be able to hear it. Check out Boss' NS-2 noise gate in a pedal format for $99.95. Great noise gate with a smooth release, but personally I think the dbx 266XL for only $50 more is a better deal because not only do you get great noise reduction, but you also get dbx compression and limiting in one rack mount chasis. But a noise gate should be an easy fix to that problem.
