Can anyone tell me how to use the 8 track seq
on the eps to make beats. Can you do it in realtime. Only used Roland xox boxes before.
Thanks

Unfortunately, I can't tell you how to use your sequencer. I CAN tell you this:
Go to their website and try to find a manual. E-mail them if it's not readily available online.

I owned the original EPS years ago when it was cutting technology. Bought it new. It was my main tool for composition and arrangement for years. I got rid of it due to the fact that it would crash on me more and more often.

It is probably the most intuitive instrument ever built. I LOVED the way I could create on it as my ideas flowed! Polar opposite of an outboard or software seq.

I only sold it due to it's crash problem. Otherwise I'd still be my main axe!
I made about 3 albums worth of material on it.

Good luck with it! I miss mine.

Hey T. Alan,

What do you mean by your EPS "crashing"? Freezing when playing a sequence? Freezes anytime? What? I've never had any type of problem of that sort with mine so I'm curious to know what yours is/was doing. Thanks.

Boy...it's been several years but I'll do my best.
First off, I'll try to answer your question on making beats. I usually had the sequencer set to LOOP mode and for a 4-bar loop. That way, I could compose just like on my drum machine(which, at the time, was a Yamaha RX-17). I was pretty slick on my drum machine and so too with the EPS as well in that mode.
On to the crashing. Simply, I would be in the middle of my work and it would just lock up on me(freeze). I'd have to shut-down and loose all my work. It eventually got so that I'd have to back-up every single little job I'd do. For example, If I made an edit, I'd back-up. If I overdubbed a note on a drum track, I'd back-up, and so on... Eventually, it'd crash every couple minutes or so. I couldn't work at a respectable pace anymore, so I had to get rid of it.
On the plus side:
Got my new bass rig on trade! My life has never been the same...

Hope this helps,
T. Alan
