View Full Version : best AMD chipset for audio: SiS, VIA, NVidia, ALi?

i wanna purchase an AMD cpu.

as there are so many different chipsets available for AMD cpus i dunno which mobo to go for. which chipset is the best for audio use:

SiS, NVidia (Nforce), ALi, VIA (or any other i might haven forgotten or not recognized so far)

Actually it's quite simple. Limit your choice to SiS or NVidea (nforce). Both proven rock solid & compatible for DAW.

That's the scoop. It's all over town. Do a search hear & you'll se.

Can't touch the ASUS A7N8X mobo w/ NVidia NForce 2 chipset for an AMD CPU... IMHO http://www.audioforums.com/forums/smile.gif

Today right now? NForce 2 on Asus(A7n8X).In the next week or so? Maybe the new SiS 746,we'll see.Early benches shows it a little better,but not probably enough of a difference to wait.On thing to keep in mind though,the NForce 2 was designed around the 333FSB memory spec but will work with DDR 400.The SiS 746 is the first chipset designed to specifically work with asyncronis DDR 400 properly.This may come into play of you plan on buying a 400FSB Barton.If you do,expect to pay top $$$.

Today nVidia chips; Tomorrow nVidia chips.

Intels very few worries ahead and problems along the way usually has had the 'nVidia' word somewhere in there
