Hi!

My old 800 MHz AMD is on its last lap when it comes down to recording and now I am planning on ordering a new computer. I would like to have one that works fine for recording (using softsynths and recording vocals and guitars under Cubase SX). I would also like to be able to play some games now and then.

So my question to all of you is can you combine these two? I donīt have the money to get two computers.

I am planning on building to following system and would like some opinions before I order.

ASUS N7N8X
AMD 2200+
512 Mb PC2700
Seagate Barracuda V 120Gb 7200rpm 8Mb cache
Abit Siluro Geforce4 Ti4200 64Mb

I already have a M-audio audiophile 2496 soundcard.

Will this system work and be stable?

I would also like this computer to be as silent as possible and I am a bit conserned regarding the graphics card fan. I have read somewhere that the abit siluro is "supprisingly quiet". Anyone have any experience of this card? (noise and DAW-compability)

regards

Magnus

I hope so dood b/c I orderes Xactly the same system yesterday!

As far as I know you should be golden unless your getting some no-name ram b/c the a7n8x is supposed 2 be a lil' picky.

good luck.

I was planning on ordering the cheapest no-name memory thae have... Maybe I have to reconsider. Do you know what memory I must have in order for it to work properly?

Please let me know how your system works when you get it up and running.

At googlegear.com, Crucial is often considerably cheaper than Corsair. I bought a gig of Crucial DDR from them for $150.
