pops when playing back

in cubase sx playback is full of pops and crackle. What is strange is that if i open an old cubase song it plays back fine even though all the settings are the same

Is everything else the same? Have you changed any devices?

Are your bit rates and sample rates the same?? that is the best way to get pops and clicks is by having unmatched bit rates.
