I downloaded a 20 second mp3 audio clip. I open it from my desktop and play it with Winamp. I open Cool Edit Pro 2 to record the clip. When I play the clip through winamp and hit record, a message appears stating ' the specified device is already in use...' Is there a way to record that clip while listening to it from winamp or is my only option loading it from "File" in CEP?

Why would you want to re-record it???

Just change it to a .wav file with an audio editor ( Audacity is FREE http://audacity.sourceforge.net or check out the audio programs at www.hitsquad.com (http://www.hitsquad.com) ) and then load it into your sequencer.

I know how to load into the sequencer but I just wondered if there was a method to listen to it and record it at the same time.

Does your sequencer allow "direct monitoring"? If so make sure it's enabled.
