Have a couple of very good sounding Aark24s...but the Aarks tax system resources much more than the RME 9652s I also use...I was thinking of running the Aark PCI card in PC 1, and using the lightpipe IO from the breakout boxes to PC2 with the RMEs...
1. Will this work?
2. How strong is the clock out signal...hoping to go Aark1-Aark2-RME without significant loss...
I'm going to be moving the d8b out completely, and will be using Samplitude 7.2 as a do-all until I get another console...
Thanks for your input

well, you're definitely in the right home for Aardvark. There's lots of 'varkers crawling around here.
interesting that you have a 9652. which do you think sounds better, the RME or the Aardvark?

Touch call, really...because of my applications...
I've been using a d8b with the RME cards, but the mixer will soon be gone. In my "B" system, I was using just one Aark24...I've always prefered to character of the Aardvark over the d8b, but I really don't know if its the quality of DA, AD, or combination...
I do know this: After grabbing another Aark24 off ebay for a steal, I experimented with running them together, and was pleasantly surprised by the sound....combining the Aarks with the AD conversion in the Octopre gives me 24 dig ins and 16 analog outs (not counting SPDIF...) all sounding pretty darn good...
That's why I'm trying to run the RME with Aark lightpipes...I prefer the sound of Aarks in this application, but have really come to rely on RME's Digicheck...

Update: the Aark and RME cards don't play together well at all...I've pulled the RMEs, and switch input modes when I want to use LP ins...
Oh well.
