I have a Gina 24 with the latest 6.08 WDM drivers installed the card works great until I play certain files, mostly mp3's either using the Winamp 2.81 or the internal windows player and also Cool edits Fraunhofer IIS
The problem is that the card hangs the echo console and squeals squawks until I reboot.
I used to have some older drivers that were released before the WDM and they gave the same problem except that the whole system would hang and I would need to force the system to power off (either by holding the power button for 4 sec’s or throwing the power cord across the room depending on my level of frustration.) now at least I can reboot gracefully.
For most of my work this isn't a problem as long as I stay away from anything other than pure wav files but I have found that this can happen in this case occasionally as well. The ultimate goal is for this system to be used to play sound files as sound effects during live performances using Stage researches SFX software (they recommend the Gina). During a show a crash just wont do as the computer will play sound effects as well as control the lighting console automating both. Does anyone have similar problems and even better some suggestions?
I don’t know the chipset in the system off hand I am guessing that its VIA
733Mhz Intel pIII with 128 meg
2 IDE hard drives
AHA-2930 SCSI with a plextor SCSI cdrom and Yamaha SCSI burner
