A. What's going on with the older gina soundcard that has the event logo on it, as well as unballanced inputs and outputs? Is this card only 20 bit? Did these older echo ginas have any latency problems? Are they compatible with Windows XP? I'm actually comparing purchasing this card to the Audiophile 2496 (like everyone else), but it seems at first glance that the Audiophile will perform better.

B. If I get the echo event gina, I'll then need to get a midi interface (I think) to send midi to my juno-106. Is it true that some of these interfaces are routed out through the joystick port???

Thanx for any help

I had a 20bit Gina card and it worked flawlessly for me(Win98SE), no latency. The drivers were rock solid. I sold mine and got a 24 bit gina. I don't hear any difference in the quality but I'm not an audio engineer or audiofile. You could go to the www.echoaudio.com (http://www.echoaudio.com) web site and check the drivers for that card to see if they work in Windows XP.

I have been using the same Event Gina since it came out on Win95, 98, 98SE and now XPpro system with Sonar 2.2 through a Midisport 2x2 interface, and I can't imagine why I should change it. I use V-Sampler and Buzz and the whole lot blasts away, MIDI and audio all at once with no trouble whatsoever. I run an Athlon 1800+ with 1Gb ram.

i have a gina 20 bit (says echo, but should be the same card as the one with the event logo)
I was thinking that my breakout box had balanced TRS connectors, but they might be unbal...)
the sound is great, latency is low, and the latest drivers 6.08 are solid on XP

going to MOTU 828mkII soon, so I hope it treats me as well as the gina has..

PS. the gina has no midi i/o on it.. you will need a separate midi interface or if your motherboard has a joystick port, then you can get an adapter cable from a music supply store

For Sale Echo/Event Gina Card and interface. 2 - ¼ inch inputs with 8 - ¼ inch outputs and S/PDIF input and output. This unit has work flawlessly for the past four years under all Windows 9X operating systems. I’ve upgraded to a new Dell computer using Windows XP and the current driver available from Event is a beta version and does not work which forces me to retire this unit. So if you have Windows 9X operating systems and are looking for a PRO version sound card/interface at a reasonable cost, email me if interested and we will work out a an agreeable price.

I have a Gina 20 bit card, and I'm thinking about switching to Linux.

Does anybody know if there are linux drivers available for this card??

Thanks.
