Hi, I don't really know much about sound systems yet, but I just bought a new home theatre system. I'm wondering if there's a chance I could damage the speakers if I turn the volume up too high? I'm not really sure how these things work.

Here's the link to the system: http://www.futureshop.ca/en-CA/product/pioneer-5-1-channel-home-theatre-system-htp-790hd/10127853.aspx?path=fa917d6dc49ac9876e1e64d49fe8c1d 0en02

Sorry if this is posted in the wrong section, I wasn't really sure.

This is a live sound engineering forum on a professional audio site, not a consumer audio/home theater site.

A reputable dealer will provide support for new purchases. Why is futureshop.com refusing to offer support (http://www.futureshop.ca/)?

Anyway, the real answer is "maybe".

You have to use your ear. While slowly increasing volume go until first sign of distorted sound and then put volume little down. Normal systems are made to work at 60-75% all the time with no problems and max quality. Attention: input signal also have influence on output, so next song can be lauder, or if you adjust system according rock/metal song to be fine and next is some Hip-Hop, you can damage sub.
