View Full Version : Q10, Sonar, recording/monitoring levels

When I set up to record, I get some different levels between Sonar, and the aardvark manager. Presently I am not using any effects or soft synths.

The most important thing to me is to get good levels recording, and then decent enough monitoring levels. How are other Q10 users striking this balance? I am finding I need to trim up some stuff that had a decent level in monitors before recording, once Sonar gets it, the levels change in the recording. I have handled some of the hurdles, now this one seems to be the one that's more feel related than other, hardware or software related ones.

It is important to remember that the sliders (not trim, but sliders) in aardvark are only for monitoring. The trim knobs set the levels.

Forget sonar. All you should care about is Aardvark for levels. Work within Aardvark to make sure that you do not go too high or too low (adjusting trim) and then you should be ready to rock. As long as you do not overload in Aardvark you should be OK.

If I did not answer, ask again and give me more detail.

You can overcome this, it is just lack of experience now. Let me know how it goes.

I just tried that, and it works pretty well. I'm still getting used to this card, but now it's all a question of ability to use it, rather than hardware limitations.

Thanks.
