major problems with Audigy 2 and sonar XL

Everything was running fine with the above, have been recording audio through a mic, and midi via digital piano. The other day things started going haywire. Started with the windows START menu flashing on and off while using sonar, had to keep rebooting. Now halfway through playback or record of audio or midi the sound goes and all I hear is a series of clicks and screeches! Reboot and it's fine for a while, then it goes nuts again. Can anyone advise?

Have you run a virus check?

From your brief description it sounds like your CPU may be overheating.
Are you monitoring your system temps? If not then pay a visit to http://mbm.livewiredev.com/ and grab motherboard monitor.

thanks, but I think it's more to do with sonar as I've been using cubase without a problem, even after the audio going haywire in sonar. It only happens when I've been using sonar ?
